Assessing the Current Situation...
Currently the following connections have been made:
- Greenhouse access
- cross-curricular learning between art and science/horticulture
- community service opportunities and outreach
The following connections will be made in the near future (before May 2017):
- Lubbock High School Art Club outreach with community garden (photos below)
- Possibility of outreach co-op with Horticulture Club, Art Club and surrounding elementary schools: 2 schools already have gardens but are in need of help. The idea is to involve the elementary students in planting and maintaining
- education on food sourcing
- Ceramic students will make pots to sell succulents that the greenhouse students have grown
- clean up and addition of current art in the garden: students will help contribute their painted rocks to the installation
- permission to create an art installation or sculpture for the garden
